บทคัดย่อ          

A retrospective study of cholecystectomied gallbladder of patients over a period of five years(1987-1991) was done in the Department of Pathology, Police General Hospital and Srinakarin Hospital.  A total of 1,507case were examined. Result from the microscopic examination revealed that Opisthorchis ova were presented in five out of 505 patients from Police General Hospital and 135 out of 999 patients from Srinakarin Hospital. Opisthorchis-infected patients were common in age ≥20 year group. In the same hospital no significant  difference in the parasitic prevalence of patients with cholecystectomy were observed, according to sex (either males or females), age (≥20 year group), occupation (employee and unemployed) and resident (central Thailand). From patients who have a record of migrating from central to northeast Thailand two out of  seven patients were positive for 0. viverrini while those who migrated with northeast to central Thailand three out of 54 patients were positive. Based from the results, the patients who came from or migrated to northeast Thailand had proportion to be infected with 0. viverrin, which can be associated from the habit of eating raw fish that contained secondary intermediate host of 0. viverrin
